A Wedding in Georgia (up to the night before)

Michael, Maureen and Ramsay's son, and Samanta, originally from Brazil, were getting married in Athens, Georgia, and we were invited.

Maureen's sister, Colleen came with us. The night before we set off on this trek, her daughter, Genna came to say good bye. This was the last time in two days that Colleen was actually close to a living person; she spent the next two days sitting in the back seat of our car beside our backpacks and cooler as we drove from Toronto to Athens.

Two days later, we arrived just in time to change for a dinner in the local pub to which all the out-of-town guests were invited. It is a tradition in the U.S. for the groom's family to arrange a dinner the night before the wedding. Above are Samanta and Mike...the "Nearlyweds". Samanta is tall, but Michael is taller.

Maureen, having a discussion with Samanta.

Ramsay's discussion with Mike looks more serious.... "Son, I think it's time to talk about the birds and the bees..."!

Michael's brother, Geoff, with his cousins Allison and Maureen, who both flew down from Toronto for the wedding.

Maureen's brother, Thom, flew from New York with his wife, Yuko, and baby, Tommy.

Paul is talking to Heather who, with her husband, Ron, live in Minesing, near Barrie. We found out that Heather is a singer and knows several people in Bravado!, the choir that Margot sings in.

We knew Carole, on the left,  when she lived in Toronto. Her husband worked with Paul 40 years ago.

All told, there were lots of long time friends at the wedding.
