Celebrating Paul's 70th

For the weekend of Paul's birthday, we were in Peterborough checking out rides that we will be leading for Cyclon, a cyclingl weekend for 200 people sponsored by the Toronto Bicycle Network on August 3-6.

Carole made arrangements for dinner at a restaurant on May 20th (the actual birthday).

Back at Trent University after dinner, we met Maureen's sister, Colleen, who took us on a tour of the campus. Colleen had previously met Carole many years ago in Paris... this time Peterborough,,, next time Peoria? The photo is taken in front of the residence where we stayed. Colleen said that the students call it "The Swiss Cheese Building".

Unfortunately on the first day of riding, I had a tangle with a "No Parking" sign. This is my shoulder three days later. The encounter also broke my bicycle computer and a cable that changed the gears. I was still able to cycle the next day; however the cadence had to be faster on the flats. Fortunately it was in the right gear for the hills, of which there were several long ones.

Wow, that's a doozie of a bruise!

The birthday meal was great. So, too, was the bruise!

The lesson is obviously not to park in a no parking zone! While some might say a full stop as a result of a crash was not "parking", obviously the sign knew better. :-)
