A Wedding in Georgia (up to the night before)

Image
Michael, Maureen and Ramsay's son, and Samanta, originally from Brazil, were getting married in Athens, Georgia, and we were invited. Maureen's sister, Colleen came with us. The night before we set off on this trek, her daughter, Genna came to say good bye. This was the last time in two days that Colleen was actually close to a living person; she spent the next two days sitting in the back seat of our car beside our backpacks and cooler as we drove from Toronto to Athens. Two days later, we arrived just in time to change for a dinner in the local pub to which all the out-of-town guests were invited. It is a tradition in the U.S. for the groom's family to arrange a dinner the night before the wedding. Above are Samanta and Mike...the "Nearlyweds". Samanta is tall, but Michael is taller. Maureen, having a discussion with Samanta. Ramsay's discussion with Mike looks more serious.... "Son, I think it's time to talk about the birds and the bees....

Bravado Spring Concert

For this concert, the choir performed the most requested songs from their repertoire. Below are abbreviated versions of three of the songs. This is a repeat of the song from Glee that Margot performed in the concert last June. Lots of Mamas. Where are the Papas? Twin Pipes

Spring Arrived Late in May this Year

Mother's Day flowers from Bryn Three young robins in a nest on our eavestrough. One seems to have grabbed more worms from the busy parents than the other two. They have made a poopy mess of the brick behind them. this photo was taken by leaning out the bathroom window. The adults got really excited by the strange creature so close to their young and would have dive bombed me if there had been room. This Spring we had our front and side walkways done.  Beside the garage, there is now a planter. I hope that the chamaecyparis (false cypress) will survive the hot, dry summer that is predicted. On the other side of the garage, there is now a smoother, wider walkway leading to the back. Wheeling out the garbage containers is easier. A rock and plants that can survive heat and drought are at the front by the sidewalk. I'm hoping that the liatris will attract the monarch butterflies in the fall. On a neighbour's Blazing Star Liatris, the butterflies looked like jewels last...

Two Grandmas

Image
Michael's mother. Pat, and I picked up Thomas from his daycare. Pat flew from Ottawa to visit for a few days. The daycare people asked if they could have a photo of Thomas with his two Grandmothers to put up on their wall. When we got home, I had to phone Megan at work to ask her how to unfasten the belt on the stroller. It was so difficult that Pat decided to practise it so that she could do it by herself the next day. One needs to have strong thumbs to undo that strap. Luckily, Megan had another stroller for Pat to use.
