The Killer Climb to Peronne

On Friday June 8 we had a 50 km headwind. Everyone made it up the first hill (about 10 km south of Vimy Ridge) but the second hill was long and the wind blew relentlessly. Only four of the 14 people on the ride made it up the hill.

Above are Carole (Canada) and Margaret(Australia) trudging up the hill.

Paul's entourage brought up the rear. Senior Queensland police officer (Debbie) pushed Paul's bike because she didn't want "to have to give him mouth to mouth resuscitation". Peter (sweep) pushed both Debbie's and his bikes up the hill.

The German's held this steep hill for 3 years during World War 1.

Looks like nice long open views. Hopefully you weren't too tired to enjoy them.
